Youth for Understanding International Exchange

Study abroad for a year or a semester in Scandanavia! With Youth For Understanding (YFU) International Exchange, students can choose a year, semester, or summer program in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden. Additionally, a program called 13th Year Abroad is available for students just out of high school. The program is available in Denmark (where students study Business and Technology) and Sweden.

YFU awards more than 300 different scholarships to students each year. Use this page to help determine which scholarships may be right for your exchange program.

Boren Scholarship for International Study

Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.

Boren Scholars study less commonly taught languages, including but not limited to Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.
