I am the owner of Writing for Him Ministries and was established 9/08. It is a writing ministry and I specialize in writing inspirational young adult novels and poetry. I am self-published. My wife is going back to school to become a nurse, and we were wondering, are there programs like "Doctors Without Borders" but for nurses?

Where can I find information on how to participate in certain community development programs? I don't mean necessarily financially, but more like a volunteer on the weekends or whatnot.

Are there any non-profit, community development programs for animal rescue or shelters?

In 2004, the Department of Justice released the shocking statistics that "each year, an estimated 14,500 to 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States. The number of U.S. citizens trafficked within the country each year is even higher, with an estimated 200,000 American children at risk for trafficking into the sex industry". A horrifically high number for a heinous crime that plagues our society's most vulnerable members; women and children.
