Community Development

• Community development, or community building, involves the practices and disciplines of civic leaders, activists, involved citizens and professionals to improve local communities.
• Community development empowers individuals and groups by providing them with skills they need to make positive changes in their own communities. Community developers must understand both how to work with individuals and how to affect communities' positions within the context of larger social institutions.
